Miscellaneous items for sale

Carrie McQueary writes:
Miscellaneous items for sale: I am closing a consignment/variety store. I have around 1300 pieces of good clothing for sale, infants through plus, mens and womens. This would be a great investment for someone. I also have a barely used cash register with keys and the manual. I am also willing to sell multiple items in bulk lots or box lots for anyone who is interested. Please contact LouAnn at 270-634-3735 or Carrie at 270-634-3736 for more information. CARRIE McQUEARY
If you have items for sale there's never been a better time than now on Cyber Monday. CM has faced a blizzard of ads and news stories, and posting is a little behind at this time, but we hope to be caught up overnight. Use any Contact/Submit button on the site to send your ad. Check Rates and Terms to see which ads are NO COST and which are LOW COST. -ED Waggener

Courthouse use: Fruitbasket turnover, musical chairs proposed

Two moves: 1) Chamber/CACEDA, and Tourism to Courthouse. 2) Sell Chamber building to Columbia/Adair County Water District for $1 million

By Ralph Roy Waggener
Publisher, It's Just for a Smile News

For a way to keep the old Adair Co. courthouse full of people and make it a place to visit, why not move the Columbia/Adair Chamber of Commerce Tourism and Economic Development offices there.

Then it would be in the center of everything. This could bring other offices to this majestic old building. Making this building a place that has a regular flow of traffic will help it more than anything we can do.

The Chamber's present building could be sold or turned over to the Adair/Columbia Water District that wanted to build a million dollar building for its offices. This building is ideal for the water district; a drive-in window could be installed for easy payment and would be easier to get to than the present water office or even the proposed $1 million office building proposed out by Walmart. -RALPH R. WAGGENER

Just a note: Ideas for using the courthouse are coming fast and furious. Perhaps the most commonly applauded use, still, is opening up the second floor as a multiple purpose community room for plays, homecomings, reunions, and catered gathering. One caterer said the room would be worth a rental of $300 a meal, easily. -EW

(Ad) Cyber Monday is off to a good start, right here in Columbia

As it is all year, with CM Classifieds

CYBER MONDAY is working well. Or at least Maury Lewis' version of it is. She posted a Freecycling ad to give away several great Christian Books at 05:48amCT; 37 minutes later, she wrote:
It is 6:15 a.m. and the books are gone. Thanks for all you do for Columbia . -MAURY LEWIS
Our thanks to Maury Lewis, for the comment and all she does for Columbia. It's a much livelier, much better community for her presence. And, thanks to her sidekick, Barbara Armitage, who first suggested the classification. At the moment, that cleans out "Freecycling." They always get the fastest results of any category.
