Bellview School in the late 40s

2023-01-14 - Metcalfe County, KY - Photo from Jan Sandidge .
Bellview one room school, Metcalfe County, KY would have been heated on a January day like this by a big pot belly stove right in the middle of it. This picture would have been taken around 1948 or 1949. The teacher would have been Isabelle Sandidge, mom to two of the students, Donald and Welby who provided the names he could remember. Front row left to right: Deanie Childers, Donald Sandidge (first bicycle), Lowell Demumbrum (on bicycle), Marvin Devore (next bicycle), Frank England (next bicycle). Next two rows left to right: ? Devore, Shirley Devore; right behind those two Kitty Sue Compton, Shirley Demumbrum, right behind her Jennifer Dubree, ? Shoultz (on bicycle), Homer Spradlin ?, Wayne Dubre, Welby "Pinkey" Sandidge, not sure about the one right behind him, Gerald Spradlin, behind him is Wayne England. If any readers know of names we can add please click 'comment' below and share. Bellview was located about two miles west of Edmonton surrounded by farms these families - Leftwich, Sandidge, Demumbrum, Devore, Compton and others.
