Promontory Point: Burkesville Street Phase, Downtown Project 2018-03-15 - Tutt ST/KY 2287 & Burkesville ST/KY 55/61/& 80 concurrency, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Remarkable progress, overnight, occurred in the one block of Tutt Street to Grissom Street in the late hours of last night to early this morning, when Barry Stotts and his Stotts Construction Co, Inc crew tied in the new waterline from this point to the Public Square. The event marks approximately - within 50 feet or within the frontage of Dog Gone Classy - the halfway point on the Burkesville Street Phase of the Downtown Project. One block of Tutt Street was closed at 10pmCT to protect the workers and was complete with the announcement of a Boil Water Advisory early this morning. In the right foreground is a historical marker remembering the invasion of Columbia by John Hunt Morgan in the Civil War. One can't help but do a time warp and wonder if Morgan would have made it to Coffey's Cave, much less capture Columbia and continue to Tebb's Bend had he been met by all the construction equipment mobilized for this 2018 construction phase, and had there been a vanguard of units of Mahindra's with hay lances.
