Epicurean Kentuckian: Cornsilk - for Tea? Salad? Medicine? Toy?

2017-08-06 - Not far from The Big Dawg Radio Tower, Purdy/Little Cake KY - Photo by Linda Reid Marcum Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com(c).
Cornsilk played a big role in my early years in Sulphur Well. More sophisticated artisans, I learned later, made Cornshuck dolls. I couldn't wait. I made naturally curly haired dolls at this fresh cornsilk phase. Each, of course, got its own name, and since they were perishable dolls, each was properly lamented when it "passed on." - LW.
Don't consume any cornsilk products without thorough research. It's interesting to note that cornsilk has played and still does play a limited role in medicine, as a salad topping, and has medicinal properties. The only recipe we could locate in a brief perusal can be seen at this link: "Crisp Corn Silk Salad with Rosemary and Hazelnuts". And here's a very interesting link on the sexy details of cornsilk. See Wiki/corn_silk. Paired photo - Article on locally grown "Coffee" and Clicking Read More accesses a Little Cake Day Trip story. - EW
