Epicurean Kentuckian - A Perfect Day at the Food Fair - FM2

2017-07-29 - Farmers Market on the Square, 103 Merchant Street, Campbellsville & Merchant Streets, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com(c).
An amazing shopping mall comes to life at 103 Merchant Street each Saturday, at 8amCT and each Wednesday, at 1pmCT. Very shortly after 5 hour sessions are over, there's scarcely a trace of what's just transpired. The growth of FM2 continues a steady upward vector, Market Coordinator Barbara Armitage said. This year the market is often around 2.5 times the traffic in the old location, where a big crowd was 300. Now, the Wednesday market draws that many. And on Saturdays, the number in attendance can exceed 800. This photo - 29 Jul 2017, when the weather was cooperating perfectly, and the products were better than ever - and this doesn't show all the booths. The location was the brainchild of Columbia Mayor Curtis D. Hardwick and Barbara Armitage, with the unanimous blessing of the Columbia City Council. - EW/LW
