Paramount Theater ad in December 20, 1916 Adair Co. News

This ad appeared on page 4 of the Adair County News 100 years ago. This movie helped launch the careers both of its young director, Cecil B. DeMille, and of Jesse L. Lasky, Sr., a founding member of Paramount Pictures. It was screened at the Paramount Theater in Columbia, which had lowered its price of admission to five cents after George H. Nell had opened a rival theater with that price of admission. But the theater returned to dime admissions when it screened this version of "Carmen." - from JIM
