RIDES: First EV charging station in Columbia

2022-10-06 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com
Columbia's first public charging station for electric vehicles is a level 2 charger available at Don Franklin Ford during regular business hours and can be accessed off hours with permission from the owners.

The Charger is a J1772 style charger which is compatible with most electric vehicles. Tesla owners will have to provide their own adapter to use the charger. Aside from Tesla vehicles, the J1772 is compatible with most electric vehicles currently in production.

As America continues to grow in its ownership of electric vehicles, charging options are growing as and Don Franklin Ford is happy to offer the charging station to the public as we move towards more electric cars on the road. The Franklins just ask that you check in by phone or in person prior to hooking up.
