Severe weather outlook for March 31, 2023

According to the afternoon update from the National Weather Service, a strong system will move across the Ohio River Valley today into Saturday. A damaging wind and tornado outbreak is expected across western KY late afternoon into evening (level 4 out of 5 threat), and Central Kentucky can expect more scattered instances of damaging wind and tornado threat late evening/overnight (level 3 out of 5 threat)

Highest expected non-thunderstorm wind gusts

Expectations for gusty winds tonight, provided during an afternoon update from the National Weather Service. Non-thunderstorm winds are expected to pick up out of the south and southwest Friday and continue into Saturday. The strongest wind gusts will likely occur Saturday morning, with Adair County expected to see the most activity between MidnightCT and 4amCT. The strength and severity of storms is expected to gradually decline with eastward extent.
