April proclaimed Child Abuse Prevention Month

The month of April 2026 has been proclaimed as Child Abuse Prevention Month as the result of a proclamation issued by Columbia Mayor Pamela Hoots on April 13, 2026. Members of the Lake Cumberland Children's Advocacy Center, Adair County Attorney's Office, and social services attended the proclamation signing.

Adair County Sheriff Gary Roy was proud of Deputy Emily Wall. He said she was the first to arrive on the scene and began taking on gunfire, visible in the pictures of the roof and side of her car. He confirmed that Ryan Sneed, the alleged shooter who took three lives Monday, is dead, and the scene was secured with no more danger to the residents. Comments | Permalink Older Photos
