Cattle wander among wild roses, field daisies

On the Sunday drive in 1972 - After crossing the Portland bridge, proceed to an intersection with a grassy triangle in the center. Turn right. It will be Highway 532 but there is no marker here. This leads you back to Highway 61. Remind yourself to return in the spring when all those redbuds and dogwoods are blooming. In June, wild roses, black-eyed Susans, and field daisies predominate. This herd took an interest in a passer-by gathering a rose or two. Comments | Permalink Game wardens focus on boater safety over July 4 weekend

It was a tree swarming party for these bees last week as they enjoyed the Magnolia blossoms on Grissom Street. When the stamins fall into the petals, the bees roll around collecting pollen for their hive. The tree was brought from Magnolia, Mississippi and planted on the property in 1974 by Jim and Pallie Nelson. The property is now owned by their granddaughter, April Shepperd, who cherishes the living legacy of her grandparents. Comments | Permalink Older Photos
