The Bank of Columbia presents $20,000 to Lindsey Wilson College. The gift will be used to support the Tommy D. Grider Endowed Scholarship and the college's operating expenses.

A snowy egret makes a somewhat rare appearance at Lake Shelby. All About Birds says that "Plume-hunting for the fashion industry killed many Snowy Egrets and other birds until reforms were passed in the early twentieth century. The recovery of shorebird populations through the work of concerned citizens was an early triumph and helped give birth to the conservation movement." Comments | Permalink

On the Walmart program -- A blessing for the store was led by Trinity Church Pastor Steve Pescosolido. Adair County High School Choir sang the Star Spangled Banner and ROTC performed the colors in the ceremony to celebrate the grand reopening of Walmart. Comments | Permalink
