Pioneer Joseph Turner brought his family from Virginia to settle in southern Adair County in the late 1790s or early 1800s. The original log home, added onto many times over the years, was located in "Inroad" at the confluence of Burns Creek with Crocus Creek. The historic Turner homeplace burned in the 1980s.
