Journey to the Manger took many volunteers, two churches

Journey to the Manger, produced by Pickett's Chapel and Tarter's Chapel United Methodist Churches, took many hours of volunteer time from both church congregations and friends to build and staff the presentation of the Christmas Story drive through. Men of both churches worked together to construct the 19 buildings the first year, 2012. This was the fifth year of the 1 mile journey. The road goes across lands belonging to Junior and Chad Brown and Chuck Rogers.

Angels along Journey 2019 stood 8-10 feet in air

2019-12-18 - Columbia - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com
Perhaps the bravest volunteers to make the Journey to the Manger appear real were the angels who stood on high pedestals. Barney Taylor, welding instructor at ACHS, lead the building of the angel stands the first year of the Journey presentation. There’s a foot stand and a belt to go around the waist under the costumes allowing for the angels to stand for three hours approximately 8 to10 feet up in the air above the little buildings. It was a chilling Journey.
