ACES 5th Grade Math: Doctors in Training

On Monday, January 24, 2022, fifth grade students at Adair County Elementary School became physicians and gave reports on arms and legs. Math teachers had plastic gowns, head coverings, masks and gloves for students who entered their class. Students completed word problems with addition and subtraction of fractions.

Adair County Elementary School
Fifth grade ACES artist Arianna Strode, daughter of Jennifer Strode, created a masterpiece in the style of Alma Thomas' "The Resurrection," completely independently at her home. She brought it in this morning to show us, and she has done an amazing job! When asked about her artwork, Arianna explains the process, her inspiration, and what she will do differently in her next piece. We are so incredibly proud of her! Go, Arianna, go!
Fifth graders at ACES have been learning about featured artist Alma Thomas, first female African American artist to have artwork in the White House. Additionally, she was the first Art major ever to graduate from Howard University. Thomas was first an art teacher, and even long after her death, she continues to inspire young artists like Arianna. Piper is a faithful assistant to Adair County School Superintendent Dr. Pam Stephens, keeping watch over visitors to make sure all is well every day.
