Redstem Filaree, also known as Stork's Bill because of the shape of it's seed pods, is another of those plants about which many disagree. It's considered an invasive species by some, and also excellent forage for cattle and wildlife by others. This hardy member of the geranium family has been named "herb of the month" for potentially useful astringent properties by a writer for the Taos News. Comments | Permalink

Although the Palm Warbler got its name because of a specimen found in the Caribbean, it's actually one of the northernmost breeding of all warblers. They summer in Canada, but pass through Kentucky each spring and fall. Comments | Permalink
