The tree beside Town Creek where it goes under the Lindsey Wilson Street bridge wasn't downed in the recent storm, but it was damaged and leaning over electrical wires. The City Street Department was out in the hazy Wednesday morning fog to take care of it. Comments | Permalink

Walmart Foundation grant to be used for DARE Program

The City of Columbia has received a grant from the Walmart Foundation that will be utilized for their DARE Program. The City of Columbia has two officers assigned to the DARE Program: Jimmy Luttrell at the Adair County Middle School and Adam Cravens at the Adair County Elementary School. The DARE program is a drug awareness program for students in the school system.
"We appreciate Walmart and their commitment to the community," said Mayor Pamela Hoots.
