Leon G. Davis, 87, Green County, KY (1933-2021)

Leon G. Davis, of the Grab Community, was born on December 16, 1933 in Green County, Kentucky to the late Olen and Valley Kessler Davis. He departed this life on October 9, 2021 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky having attained the age of 87 years, nine months and 24 days.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Russell Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

He was a retired truck driver and farmer. He enjoyed cutting the grass and spending time with his family. He was a member of the William B. Allen Lodge #704 F&AM.


He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Corporal.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruby Benningfield Davis on July 28, 2015, having united in marriage on February 14, 1953. He loved his Ruby with all his heart and together they had a happy and blessed life together.

Survivors include one daughter: Teresa Stewart of Grab; one son and daughter-in-law: Tim and Sue Davis of Grab; four grandchildren and their spouses: Jamie and Leo Curry, Steve and Karen Stewart, Tim "Tub" and Christina Davis, and Laryn and Clark Rueda; seven great-grandchildren: Leo Curry III, Zane Curry, Harley Davis, Isaac Davis, Mikayla Stewart, Michelle Stewart and Damon Rueda; one sister: Shelby Benningfield of Pierce; one brother: George Davis of Grab; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter: Kathy Davis Brock; four brothers: Luard Davis, Lawton Davis, Billy Davis and Limen Davis; and one son-in-law: Mike Stewart.

The funeral services for Leon Davis will be conducted at 11amCT Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Shirrell Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Marion County Veteran Honor Guard. Rev. Caleb Owens officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home Facebook page.

Visitation is requested from 4-8 Wednesday and after 7 Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Masonic services will be conducted Wednesday night at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy should be made in the form of donations to the Masonic Widows and Orphans Home, which can be made at the funeral home.
