The Columbia/Adair Parks and Recreation Board met at 5pmCT, Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the 911 Center Conference Room. No quorum was available due to absences so no new business could be voted on. Discussion centered around projects already in progress.

Present at the meeting were: Chairperson Cynthia Rowe, Director Lisa Handy, Vice-Chair Jelaine Harlow, Steven Baker and Linda Waggener, secretary. Deputy CJE Andrea Waggener represented Fiscal Court. Absent were Board Members Damon Hicks, Barbara Shepherd, Mitzi Bault, Alicia Bosela and Greg Caldwell.

Details were reviewed in order to provide the third Saturday of each month event, a special free time for kids. The first of these has been set for Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 5pmCT at 901 Hudson Street, Columbia - a Movie Night, showing The Incredibles as a first event for children and families. The event is free and open to the public. Concessions will be available, with a request from the Board for all vendors to keep prices on the low side of reasonable, affordable, with proceeds going to charity.

An informal gathering time was set for Friday, September 21, 2018 after work for Board Members and volunteers who wish to help make sure the Center is ready for company. Stephen Baker will bring his movie-showing gear and set it up. Lisa Handy will get out tables and chairs for concessions and seating.

Lisa reported that the replacement ceiling lights inside the Jim Blair Center are committed to be installed by electrician Joel South the first of November.

The Fiscal Court has received and accepted the low bid for the floor and it is on track to be done after the holidays with the City and County each paying half the total cost.

The next Columbia/Adair Parks and Recreation Board meeting will be held at 5pmCT, Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the 911 Center Conference Room. Regular monthly meetings are on the first Wednesday of each month at 5pmCT in the Center.

The meetings are open to the public.
