TheatreFest! Lindsey Wilson College

COLUMBIA, KY. - (Wed 15 Aug 2018) - The Lindsey Wilson College fall theatre season will open early this year with The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown in September, followed by a Children's Theatre production of the wonderful musical, The Wind in the Willows adapted by Douglas Post from the book by Kenneth Grahame, and will conclude with the regional premiere of Bright Star, the award-winning new Broadway musical written by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell.

"This season is really exciting to me because it shows just how versatile our program is" says Theatre Instructor and Assistant to the Director of Theatre, Jeremy Cloyd.

Robert Brock, Director of the LWC Theatre Program, says, "From the beginning, the mission of Lindsey Wilson Theatre has been to provide many opportunities for students to learn their craft and hone their skills in exciting and challenging plays. This Fall we have a strong line-up of musicals that continues and expands that mission."

Cloyd, who will be the music director for all three productions this Fall tells us that the season will push both the students and the audiences in terms of what they expect of the program. "I really believe this is one of the most exciting programs out there. Our community, both on and off campus, keeps asking for more and so we keep trying to find ways to offer more."

One of these ways is by offering more performances of the plays produced. "We used to only present one public performance of our Children's Theatre play each Fall, but the demand for this show has been amazing over the past few years so we have extended that to three public performances" Cloyd says.

Without a doubt this semester is ramping up to be an exciting one for theatre here at the college. The schedule for the Fall Season is:

  • The Last Five Years on September 5, 6, 7, 13, & 14 at 7pmCT
  • >o?The Wind in the Willows on November 14, 15, 16 at 7pmCT
  • Bright Star on November 28, 29, 30 & December 6 & 7 at 7 p.m.

All performances will be in V.P. Henry Auditorium, 210 Lindsey Wilson Street, Columbia, KY. For more information about LWC's spring theatre season, contact Robert Brock at brockr@lindsey.edu.
