Matt Willis joins elite group of 12 in district who have already earned the distinction
Comments re article 95794 - Kentucky celebrates huge new class of board certified teachers

By Phyllis Curry, Academic Dean, Adair Schools

Congratulations to Matt Willis, Adair County High School teacher, who is in this group of elite educators who recently obtained National Board Certification.

Mr. Willis joins the following Adair County teachers who are currently NBCT: Kirby Hancock, Debbie Bradshaw, Denise Grant, Sarah Burton, Lisa Godsey, Cindy Walker, Jennifer Kemp, Sommer Brown, Shay Knifley, Tobie Harmon, Pam Phipps, and Amber Bledsoe.

There are other Adair County teachers currently enrolled in the process who will be obtaining certification in the very near future.

The certification process requires that teachers demonstrate standards-based evidence of the positive effect they have on student learning in alignment with the Five Core Propositions.

They must exhibit a deep understanding of their students, content knowledge, use of data and assessments and teaching practice. They must also show that they participate in learning communities and provide evidence of ongoing reflection and continuous learning. - Phyllis Curry
