ACSO gives official report, KY 61 S road closure, Breeding, KY - 21 Jan 2018

Driver of semi goes off shoulder of road. Attempts to bring 2012 Kenworth semi back onto road results in vehicle overturning, losing a load of live chickens. Roadway shut down for approximately seven hours for clean up. Adair County Sheriff Harrison Moss reports that on Sunday evening January 21, 2018 at approximately 11:17pmCT, deputies were dispatched to the Metcalfe/Adair county line on Burkesville Road, Breeding, KY, for a semi accident.



Preliminary investigation determines that 54 year old Jerry Mitchell from Byrdstown, TN was operating a 2012 Kenworth semi with a load of live chickens.

When he drove off the right shoulder of the road, he attempted to bring the semi back onto the road and the semi overturned losing his load on Burksville Road.

Burkesville Road was closed approximately seven hours for clean up.

Deputy Josh Durbin is the investigating officer and was assisted by Deputy Padget, Deputy Hitch Adair County Emergency Management Mike Keltner, and the Breeding Fire Department.

01:55 01/22/2018 - An overturned semi, which was loaded with live chickens, on South 61 in the Breeding Community has caused a temporary road closure. A detour operation was conducted on Breeding Loop, from the most southern entrance at the Adair-Metcalfe County line, to the middle entrance to Breeding Loop, just north of Breeding Country Mart. Some chickens can be seen on close inspection of the photo, along with numerous feathers. - per Mike Keltner, Adair County Emergency Manager.
