Louis H. Shipp, Taylor Co., KY (1930-2017)

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a veteran of Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Ribbon with Four Stars. He retired from TGT after more than thirty-seven years' service. He was a member of the Pitman Mason Lodge #124 F & AM. His wife, Peggy Noel Shipp survives.

Louis H. Shipp, 87, of Campbellsville, KY, died at 12:02pmET, Friday, June 23, 2017, in Campbellsville.

Funeral service will be at 3pmCT/4pmET, Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 N Main Street, Campbellsville, KY. Entombment will be in Brookside Mausoleum, 700 Old U.S. 68, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be 10am-3pmCT/11am-4pmET, Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.

Louis H. Shipp of Campbellsville, KY, was the son of the late Odgen Shipp & Ruby L. Young Carter. He was born May 4, 1930, in Taylor County, KY. He died Friday, June 23, 2017, in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY at the age of 87 years, one month and 19 days.

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

He was a veteran of Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Ribbon with Four Stars.

Louis retired from TGT after more than thirty-seven years' service.

He was a member of the Pitman Mason Lodge #124 F & AM.

He united in marriage to Peggy Noel and she preceded him in death November 18, 2001.

He is survived by:
  • One daughter and son-in-law: Debbie and Jim Bailey of Lexington, KY

  • One grandson: Dusty Bailey and wife, Melissa of Lexington, KY

  • Two great-grandchildren: Emerson Bailey and Riley Bailey of Lexington, KY

  • One sister and brother-in-law: Brenda and Dr. Harold Wilkerson of Campbellsville, KY

  • Two aunts: Virginia Shipp of Campbellsville, KY; and Jean Dyer of Florida

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • And many other relatives and friends
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmie Shipp May 5, 1965.
