Mrs. Lula Bell Scott Thurman, Cumberland Co., KY (1949-2017)

She was a member of Hanover Church of Christ and a retail sales clerk. She was a native of Cumberland County, KY, and a resident of Barren County, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of Johnny & Lula Farlee Scott and the widow of Tim Gordon Scott, her husband of over 34 years.

Mrs. Lula Bell (Scott) Thurman of Glasgow, KY, formerly of Cumberland County, KY passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at her home in Glasgow, KY.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 1pmCT, in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Mud Camp Cemetery in Cumberland County, KY. The family will receive friends after 4pmCT, on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 until the funeral hour on Wednesday.

She was born in Cumberland County, KY on Friday, June 10, 1949, the daughter of Johnny and Lula Farlee Scott. She died Monday, January 23, 2017 in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, having attained the age of 67 years, seven months, and 13 days.

She was a member of Hanover Church of Christ and a retail sales clerk.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tim Gordon Thurman, whom she wed on Wednesday, July 28, 1982; daughter, Tammy Simpson; granddaughter, Jessica Simpson; and brother, Steven Scott.

She is survived by:
  • Her children: Kim (and Kelly) Cook of Glasgow, KY; Twana (and Pete) Estes of Burkesville, KY; and Marcus (and Chelsea) Thurman of Glasgow, KY

  • Her siblings: Sue Ann (and Harold) Rose of Burkesville, KY; Doline (and Jack) Ruppaner of Glasgow, KY; and Doug Scott of Burkesville, KY
  • Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
