Dallas R. Propes, Casey County, KY (1948-2017)

He was an Army veteran and retired house painter. He was a member of the Atwoods Chapel Church. Dallas was a gun enthusiast and loved woodworking. He was a native of Casey County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death in Boyle County, KY. He was the son of the late Charles Thomas Propes & Glades Brown Propes. His wife, Carolyn Chelf Propes, survives. He leaves 32 direct and three step living descendants.

Dallas Propes, 68, of Liberty, KY passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville, KY. He was 68.

Memorial services are at 2pmCT/3pmET, Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Atwood Chapel United Methodist Church with Bro. Keith Nicholas officiating. Visitation is 1pmCT/2pmET, Sunday until service.

Born August 13, 1948 in Casey County, KY, he was the son of the late Charles Thomas Propes & Glades Brown Propes. He died Wednesday, January 11, 2017, in Danville, Boyle County, KY, at the age of 68 years, four months, and 29 days.

He was an Army veteran and retired house painter. He was a member of the Atwoods Chapel Church. Dallas was a gun enthusiast and loved woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Faye Propes of Liberty, whom he married December 8, 2007, and the following:
  • Two daughters: Christine Hall-Propes and Kim Propes, both of Lexington, KY

  • Two step-sons: Kevin, husband of Debra Bryant, Somerset, KY; and David, husband of Stephannie Bryant, Mobile, AL

  • A step-daughter: Debbie, wife of Danny Tapscott, Liberty, KY

  • Twelve grandchildren

  • Eighteen great-grandchildren

  • A brother: Dale, husband of Wanda Propes, Frankfort, KY

  • Two sisters: Linda, wife of Steve Leech of Peoria, IL; and Judy, wife of Larry Atkinson of Winchester, KY
