LEBANON, TN - (Mon 9 Jan 2017) - An efficient offensive showing powered the Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team past Cumberland (TN), 90-78, on Monday night. The Blue Raiders (13-5, 1-2 Mid-South Conference) shot 52.6 percent from the field against the Phoenix (8-7, 1-2 MSC) while picking up their sixth-straight victory.

The 12-point margin of victory on Monday was Lindsey Wilson's largest in conference play since the Blue Raiders defeated St. Catharine (KY) 76-59 on Dec. 5, 2015.

Five players scored in double digits for the Blue Raider. Bryan Wallace led his team with a season-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting. The junior guard also shared the game high in rebounds with six and dished out three assists.

Allen Costley (16), Dmitry Utolin (15), Charles Sutton (14) and Brandon Berry (11) joined Wallace with 10 or more points.

Diondrey Holt, Jr. led the Phoenix with a season-high 33 points. The junior made 10 of his 19 field goal attempts while going 11-of-13 from the free throw line. As a team, Cumberland made 26 of its 28 free throws.

The two teams traded jabs throughout the first half before Lindsey Wilson opened up a 38-30 halftime lead on the strength of a 10-0 closing run.

The Blue Raiders made four of their last five shots, including a pair of consecutive baskets by Berry. On the defensive side, Lindsey Wilson held the Phoenix scoreless for the final 3:32 of the half.

Cumberland took an early 6-5 lead, but Lindsey Wilson responded with a 10-0 run, making seven of its first 10 shot attempts.

The Phoenix responded in turn, scoring 18 of the game's next 26 points to retake the lead at 24-23 with 6:56 remaining in the half.

In total, the first half featured three ties and seven lead changes.

Lindsey Wilson regained the lead with a Pepper Ben Ofokile free throw at the 6:33 mark, and the Blue Raiders held that advantage until a pair of free throws by Reid Pierce knotted the game at 28-28 with 3:53 on the clock.

Cumberland retook the lead with a field goal 20 seconds later, but it would be its last points of the half.

Berry gave the Blue Raiders the lead with a three-point field goal just inside the three-minute mark and followed up with a layup on the ensuing possession.

Holt, Jr. led all scorers in the first half with 14 points.

Sutton led the Blue Raiders in scoring with 12 first-half points. The Blue Raiders shot 48.3 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes including 37.5 percent from behind the arc.

Lindsey Wilson carried momentum into the second half with a 10-3 run to give the Blue Raiders a 50-34 edge with 15:47 on the clock.

Cumberland whittled the lead down to 11 points on three occasions in the next four minutes, but Lindsey Wilson responded with a 9-2 run, keyed by free throws by Costley and Utolin and a slam dunk by the 5-11 Wallace.

The Blue Raiders' 69-51 lead at the 9:34 mark was their largest lead of the game.

The Phoenix cut the lead to single digits twice more at 73-65 and 75-66, but Lindsey Wilson made seven free throws in the final three minutes of play to keep Cumberland at bay. The Blue Raiders shot 26-of-33 from the charity stripe over the course of the game.

Lindsey Wilson turned the ball over only 10 times on Monday while assisting on 20 of its 30 made field goals. Cumberland committed 13 turnovers and recorded only four assists.
