Five LWC Women's Soccer team members All-Americans By Matt Wurzburger News from Lindsey Wilson College COLUMBIA, KY - Five members of the Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team received NAIA All-American honors, the national office announced on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. Shelby Austin, Annika Koemm and Yvonne Ploeg earned second team honors. Lyana Perez received third team honors, and Veronica Kurtz-Martinez appeared as an honorable mention. The selection is Austin's first. The Ramsey, Indiana native started in all 20 games for the Blue Raiders this season while tallying three goals and one assist. Koemm earned All-American honors in her first season at Lindsey Wilson. In just 14 games, the freshman was third on the team with 10 goals - including four game winners - and notched one assist. The Oberickelsheim, Germany native also received Mid-South Conference Player of the Year honors earlier in the season. Ploeg appears on the All-American team for the second time after being named a second-team All-American in 2015. The sophomore shared the team lead in goals (12), assists (7) and points (31) despite missing four games this season. Perez received her third-straight All-American honors after being named honorable mention in 2014 and first team in 2015. The senior played in all 20 games for Lindsey Wilson this season, sharing the team high in goals, assists and points. Kurtz-Martinez's honorable mention selection comes in her first season as a Blue Raider. The Asuncion, Paraguay native recorded four goals and four assists this year and was tied for the fourth-most points on the team with 12. Northwestern Ohio's Klara Cahynova was named the 2016 NAIA Women's Soccer National Player of the Year, becoming the first Racer to garner Player of the Year honors. Lindsey Wilson now has 62 NAIA Women's Soccer All-Americans in program history.
