Morgan Smith Industries, Columbia, KY, recently completed a project for the 300 Building - the new state government office building in Frankfort. This five-story building will house 1,457 state employees.

MSI built the main lobby reception desk (stone and wood) as well as a 75 foot long wood feature wall.

This wall is made up of two large curved segments as well as several straight segments.

There are four different colors / species of wood on the wall, cut in three different width & depth horizontal strips.

Each strip was custom bent to match the curves of the wall and applied to the wall separately with a 1/4" gap between each strip.

In total, there are 12,000 feet of wood strips on this wall. That's 2.27 miles of wood. - Steve Jones, Designer / Detailer, Morgan Smith Industries, LLC, 132 Industrial Park Drive, Columbia, KY 42728
