Avon Cundiff, 84, Taylor Co., KY, Adair native (1932-2016)

She was a retired employee of Fruit of The Loom. She was the daughter of the late Edgar Turner and Mary Arnold Turner and the widow of Morris Cundiff. She was the matriarch of a highly regarded family with deep family ties in Taylor and Adair Counties and elsewhere. She leaves 14 direct living descendants. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church where she was an active member of United Methodist Women and had served as a Sunday School Teacher for forty years.

Avon Cundiff, 84, of Campbellsville, KY, died at 8:50pmET,, Saturday, June 4, 2016 in Campbellsville.

The funeral services will be at 10amCT/11amET, Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville by Rev. Tony Franklin and Rev. Cody Adams, Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, , Tuesday, June 7, 2016, Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cane Valley Cemetery, 83 Cane Valley Cemetery, Cane Valley, Adair County, KY.



Pallbearers: Cody Adams, Brad Cundiff, Robbie Cundiff, Adam Gordon, Frank Kidwell, and Jimmy Turner.

Avon Cundiff was the daughter of the late Edgar Turner and Mary Arnold Turner. She was born Saturday, March 19, 1932 in Adair County, Kentucky. She died Saturday, June 4, 2016 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 84 years, two months, and 16 days.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church where she was an active member of United Methodist Women and had served as a Sunday School Teacher for forty years.

She was a retired employee of Fruit of The Loom.

She united in marriage to Morris Cundiff December 25, 1948. He preceded her in death December 17, 2011.

She is survived by the following:
  • One son and one daughter and spouses: Patty and Kenny Gordon and Larry and JoAnn Cundiff, all of Campbellsville, KY

  • Four grandchildren and spouses: Robby and Stephanie Cundiff, Bradley and Amanda Cundiff, Adam and Lindsey Gordon and Erika and Cody Adams

  • Nine great-grandchildren: Austin Cundiff, Ariel Thompson, Jacob Cundiff, Lane Whitley, Brady Cundiff, Rylie Cundiff, Raegan Cundiff, Halie Adams, and Aesen Gordon

  • Two sisters and three brothers: Margaret Sneed of Bridgeview, IL; Aretha and Bobby Corbin, Jimmy and Linda Turner, Tommy and Sharon Turner and Mickey Turner all of Columbia, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her step-mother, Mabel Kemp Turner.
