You only gave us a tidbit of info on this shrub. What does the whole shrub look like, height, what is the texture (and color) of the bark at the trunk or base of the shrub? Offhand from the blooms and leaves, it may be a Wild or Choke Cherry.

How am I supposed to look it up in my Missouri Wildflowers book if I don't have enough to research?
