Moving Vietnam Memorial now in Edmonton, open at noon

Moving Wall Vietnam Memorial Wall will be in place at approximately 12pmNoonCT today at Bowling Park. Opening ceremonies will take place this evening starting at 6pmCT at Bowling Park, 1608 W Stockton Street, Edmonton, KY.

The Moving Vietnam Memorial Wall (See The Moving Wall Entry Wikipedia) and its escort crossed into Metcalfe County at approximately 8:31amCT, this morning, Thursday, May 12, 2016, Louise Firkins, reached with the convoy, said that the convoy will circle the Square in Edmonton and will return on Glasgow Road to Bowling Park, 1608 W Stockton Street, Edmonton, KY and that the wall will be erected in Bowling Park by approximately 12pmNoonCT, today.



In the escort are members of Freedom Warriors, Patriot Guard, Widow Sons, and Rolling Thunder. The wall will be on display today, May 12 through May 16, 2016, at Bowling Park.

Tonight there will be an opening ceremony at Bowling Park starting at 6pmCT, which will include taps by Paul Wayne Kirby, Posting of Colors by 623rd A Battery Field Artillery, the National Anthem by Taryn Deckard, Pledge of Allegiance by Bill Lagermann and Bill Lytle, and invocation by Kim Koger. Mayor Howard Garrett will give a welcome address, and Metcale County Judge Executive Greg Wilson will read a proclamation.

State VFW Commander Randall McComas will be the special speaker for the evening.

The Barren County ROTC will host the POW/MIA Table.

David Froggett, Jr., will sing the "Ballad of the Green Beret."

Mayor Howard Garrett and Judge Greg Wilson will lay wreaths.

The colors will be retired by the 623rd A Battery Field Artillery.
