LWC baseball in MSC Tournament vs Cumberland on Friday By David Gerhart After beating Cumberlands (Ky.) in the opening round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament, the Lindsey Wilson baseball team continues the conference tournament as they face Cumberland (Tenn.) at Bowling Green Ballpark, 300 E 8th Street, Bowling Green, KY, at 4:30pmCT. on Friday The Blue Raiders are the No. 2 seed in the tournament and they advanced to the final site of the MSC Tournament by beating Cumberlands in the first two games in the best-of-three series. Joining Lindsey Wilson at the final site in Bowling Green is top-seeded Campbellsville (Ky.), fifth-seeded Cumberland and sixth-seeded St. Catharine (Ky.). Entering this weekend, the Blue Raiders are 35-20 on the season and they have won seven of their last ten games. Edgar Lebron and Aaron Ashton have led the Lindsey Wilson offense this season as Lebron leads the team with a .346 batting average, while posting 64 hits and scoring 53 runs. Ashton has a batting average of .320 this season and he leads the team with 49 RBIs and 14 doubles. The Blue Raider pitching staff has compiled a 4.28 ERA in 433-1/3 innings of work. Scott Sebald has paced Lindsey Wilson on the mound with a 2.91 ERA and 92 strikeouts. Sebald also leads the team with eight wins on the season. Cumberland, who is 31-25 on the year, earned their spot at the final site of the MSC Tournament as they won their best-of-three series against Georgetown (Ky.), 2-0. The Phoenix scored five of their six runs in the series in the ninth inning. Cumberland has five players this season averaging over .300 at the plate. Ryan Dickison has led the way with a .335 average and 48 RBIs. On the mound, the Phoenix have combined for a 4.15 team ERA as Erik Barron has the lowest ERA on the team at 2.73, while Stephen Fischer leads the team with 10 wins. In the regular season series between the Lindsey Wilson and Cumberland, the Blue Raiders won the final two games of the series to win the series, 2-1, at Egnew Park. Following their contest against the Phoenix, Lindsey Wilson faces either Campbellsville or St. Catharine on Saturday in Bowling Green. The Blue Raiders lost all three games to the Tigers this season, while Lindsey Wilson lost two of three games against the Patriots.
