Time to check the Veteran's Page

We've added the name Pfc Lindel Coomer (WWII) to Columbia Magazine's Veterans Page. Memorial Day is coming soon, and it's a good time to take a moment and check your family's listings. Send updates using our contact form or by email to webmaster@columbiamagazine.com.

According to our esteemed research historian, Pfc Coomer was born on January 18th (military records) or 19th (birth & Social Security records), 1920, in Adair County, Ky., the son of Lonnie and Kate Coomer and the younger brother of Mr. Obie J. Coomer. He enlisted in the US Army on September 6, 1944 and separated out on March 15, 1946 (enlistment/separation dates from U.S., Department of Veterans Affairs BIRLS Death File), grade Pfc (from grave marker). He died in Illinois on December 27, 1995. Photos of Pfc Coomer and his grave marker appear at findagrave.com.
