LWC's Montano named MSC Volleyball Player of the Week

It is the second weekly award of the season for the freshman

COLUMBIA, KY. - Freshman setter Makenzie Montano is the Mid-South Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday, 3 Nov 2014.



It marks the second time this season Montano has received the award, picking up her first honor on 2 Sep 2014.

The Louisville, Kentucky, native averaged 10.7 assists per set en route to leading the No. 10-ranked Blue Raiders to a pair of conference wins last week.

Montano aided a Blue Raider hitting attack that finished the week with 101 kills in seven sets and a .303 attacking percentage. She added five kills, 14 digs and one service ace in the two wins, helping to extend the Blue Raiders' winning streak to a program-record 24 straight matches.

Montano is second in the Mid-South and 32nd in the NAIA averaging 9.7 assists per set. Her 856 assists rank third in the conference.

Lindsey Wilson improves to 28-2 overall and 12-0 in the Mid-South with last week's wins.
