Poetry by Robert Stone: This one who - a sonnet for a birthday

This one who
- a sonnet for the birthday of Terri Powell Haight
Content to be alone, large crowd unnerves
this one who, keeping going unaware
with concentration so intense none swerves,
ignores the garden wandering black bear.

Quite introverted, smaller groups more suit
this one who, fearing what might come between
the outer show and inner attribute,
desires the body language to be seen.

Though private, love of touching holds in sway
this one who, needing fingers backward tugged
to keep from fragile art and friend each day,
rejoices when the other would be hugged.

Revealed reluctantly, all senses seize
this one who with life's goodness is at ease.
- Robert Stone, 29 October 2014
