No. 6 Lindsey Wilson Women's Soccer surges past Campbellsville, 5-1 Blue Raiders poured in four second-half goals in the victory Next - LWC Blue Raider Women's Soccer vs St. Catherine, 5pmCT/6pmET, Tuesday, September, 30, 2014, at St. Catharine 2735 Bardstown Road (Campus) St Catharine, KY 40061 Click on headline for complete story By Matthews Stokes COLUMBIA, KY - The No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team used five goals by five different players to defeat visiting Campbellsville (KY), 5-1, on Saturday evening, 27 Sep 2014, at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Holloway Drive, Colubmia, KY. Playing against a conference opponent that they had never lost to in 18 meetings, the Blue Raiders (5-2-2, 2-0-0 Mid-South Conference) maintained their perfect record against the Tigers (5-5-0, 1-2-0 MSC) due in large part to four goals in the second half. With the match knotted up, 1-1, at intermission, Lyana Perez had the tiebreaking goal early in the 48th minute on a pass from Gwendoline Fai. Almost 17 minutes later, Karin Bernet was able to gain an advantage over a Campbellsville defender as they both jockeyed for position in front of the goal. With an open look, Bernet booted the ball into the bottom-right corner of the net for a 3-1 Lindsey Wilson lead with less than 25 minutes remaining. Near the 67:00 mark, Shelby Austin fielded a pass from Bernet near the top of the 18-yard box and soared a kick into the upper-right of the goal. To end the evening's offensive output, Anna Vig took a pass from Bettina Brulhart and found the back of the net late in the 78th minute to account for the match's final score. During the opening half, both goals were scored in the 14th minute. The Blue Raiders' Amanda Kander fielded a through ball from Elizabet Madjarac on the far side of the 18-yard box, and fired a shot toward the goal. The ball was deflected, but still floated into the goal for the evening's first score. The Tigers, however, responded later in the 14th minute as Mhari Fyfe tallied the equalizer to tie the contest up, 1-1. Lindsey Wilson held a 23-7 shot advantage as well as a narrow 5-3 edge in corner kicks. Perez and Fai each fired off four shots for the Blue Raiders. In goal, Johanna Henriksson surrendered one goal and made a pair of saves. Fyfe accounted for 4-of-7 shots by Campbellsville, including three on goal. Goalkeeper Amanda Howard allowed five goals and stopped 10 shots. This story was posted on 2014-09-28 10:55:27
