Steer at large stirs up placid, beautiful Joppa, KY

He was nice looking fellow. Still, inquiring Maury wants to know law on roaming cattle. Suggests community steak out, with guests enjoying steer on a plate, a salad and baked potato and a large glass of Southern iced tea

Maury Lewis writes:
We had an adventure in our neighborhood today. Someone's steer got out, walked down Combest Drive and went on to Hwy 92. We found out who owned him and found his cell number but there was no answer. What are the laws about handling cattle? He ate and broke some trees on one person's property. I am a city girl and I do not know the laws for roaming cattle. He was a very nice looking steer and I thought he would look really good on a plate, with a salad and baked potato with a large glass of Southern tea. Maybe a community steak out YUM YUM melewi --melewi
Thanks Maury: Usually I'd suggest poking around in Deutoronomy for answers, especially as this is a Sabbath, this may be a case for the County Attorney or Sheriff Moss - as I assume you've already consulted higher authority in Joppa. Eating the steer might be a form of rustling. Hadn't been much of that since a few decades ago, in another end of the county. Maybe a reader will elucidate. - EW
