Vicky Pike remembers trips to see kin at the Grove House

There were wonderful cousins to visit, caged live bears nearby, and always - a trip to White's Castle Restaurant which her Uncle Billy owned
Comments about: Scenic Marion Co., KY: Grove House

By Victoria Pike

I remember visiting my Uncle Tommy and Aunt Pauline at the Grove House when I was little. Maybe someday it will be restored to its original beauty.

Many happy times were had there visiting with my cousin Ellen and her sisters Patty, Judy, and Janice. I remember Ellen the most since she was my age.

We would visit Uncle Tommy and his family and on up the road we visited with Uncle Allen and Aunt Christine who lived closer in to town.

This was a big treat since Uncle Allen lived close to the establishment that had bears in a cage in front.

I loved to go look at the bears while my dad, Billy, visited with his friend Mr. George, the owner. Then we would go on down to the White\'s Castle restaurant that Uncle Allen owned and have a delicious hamburger and fries. - Victoria Pike
