Architects at SCB caught up in Columbia bell fever

Sherman, Carter, Barnhart working on several attractive bell solutions

Supt. Alan Reed writes:

I have been sending the the Columbiamagazine updates about the old school bell to Mr. Gabe Jones and the team of architects at Sherman, Carter, Barnhardt. They acknowledge that the buzz has started! Today I received an e-mail letting me know they are working on several attractive bell solutions for the new Adair County Primary Center.

The photos and public comments have served to generate much conversation about the old grade school. I would appreciate hearing from one of your readers who could describe how the bell sounded and how far away one could hear it. Our intent is to not only proudly display this wonderful piece of Adair County education history, but also to have it in working order to be rung at only the most special of occasions.

Alan Reed, Superintendent
