ACHS Boys Golf take 8th place; Alex Durham 4th individually Alex Durham shows he belongs with the state's best Click on headline for complete story with Coach's Comments By Steve Burton, Boys Golf Coach News for Adair County High School On Saturday morning, August 4, the Indians traveled to Campbellsville Country Club to compete in the Cardinal Classic. The 17 team field was loaded with the best teams that the State has to offer. The Indians fired a team score of 323 which was good enough for a 8th place tie. West Jessamine, the state's number 1 team, took home the title with a score of 298. Alex Durham led the Indians with an outstanding round of (74). Riley Grant's (78), Daniel Rarey's (83), Trey Garmon's (89), and Austin Cundiff's (93) rounded out the scoring for the tribe. Coach's Comments: This was a good measuring stick for us early, stated Coach Burton. Playing in a tournament like this lets you know exactly where you stand in the order of things. To compete at the state's highest level you have to post 4 very good scores and we just didn't do that today. However, we realize where we have to get better and that is exactly what we intend on doing. When we all play well, we are a really good team and to beat the states best that is what you have to do.Alex showed today that he belongs with the state's best. He overcame a slow start and battled back to tie for 4th place Individually. This tournament had most of the best players that the state has to offer and Alex played right with them. - Coach Steve Burton This story was posted on 2012-08-05 12:21:29
