A COLD FRONT WILL APPROACH THE REGION FROM THE NORTHWEST TODAYRESULTING IN THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING ACROSS THE REGION THISAFTERNOON AND EVENING. DAMAGING WINDS AND INTENSE CLOUD TO GROUNDLIGHTNING ARE THE MAIN WEATHER THREATS WITH THIS ACTIVITY. STORMSSHOULD DECLINE AND MOVE OUT OF THE AREA EARLY FRIDAY.

The National Weather Service in Louisville, KY, has issued the following forecast for Columbia, KY. this forecast from update at 7:15amCT July 26, 2012
Today - A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 96. Heat index values as high as 104. Southwest wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

Tonight - Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 9pm and 1am. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
