LW Football announces four additions to coaching staff

By Dan White
News from Lindsey Wilson College

COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson football coach Chris Oliver announced the hiring of four additions to his coaching staff on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, including two new offensive minds and another pair on the defensive side of the ball.

Brient Hobbs has been hired to coach the tight ends, Jesse Richard steps in as running backs coach, Nick Eberle will work with the inside linebackers and Luke Butts rounds out the new hires as outside linebackers coach.

Hobbs spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant at UT-Chattanooga where he worked with tight ends and the offensive line. Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Hobbs was a quarterback and safety at the University of the South where he graduated in 2009.

Richard comes to Lindsey Wilson with a bevy of coaching experience including stints at Round Valley High School, with the New Zealand Spartans and most recently at Shasta College where he was the run-game coordinator and offensive line coach.

Richard played collegiately at Shasta and Nebraska-Kearney, earning all-conference honors at both programs on the offensive line. Richard also played three professional seasons with the Tri-City Diesel of the National Indoor Football League.

Eberle comes to Columbia, KY., following coaching jobs at Illinois Wesleyan, Toledo and Robert Morris. Eberle focused on the defensive line at Illinois Wesleyan, safeties and defensive ends at Toledo and served as co-defensive coordinator for start-up program Robert Morris.

Butts takes his spot on the sidelines following a stellar playing career at Lake Forest College. Butts was an All-Midwest Conference Defensive Back three times and was named team captain as a senior. Butts graduated from Lake Forest in 2012. - Lindsey Wilson College
