Ham Radio Field Day at Breeding Fire Dept, June 23-24, 2012

Public is invited: Events start at noon Central on June 23-24, 2012. Under supervision, the public can actually get on the air while attending the event(s).

By Tim Frey

A group of local Amateur Radio operators will be participating in a national yearly event called Field Day. We will be setting up Ham radios and temporary antennas, running entirely on generator power to simulate and practice communications during a disaster.

We will be making radio contact with as many other Hams as possible during a 24 hour period beginning at about 1pmET/12pm noon CT, June 23-24, 2012 at the Breeding Fire Department, Breeding Fire Department, 290 Fire House Lane (Google Map), Breeding, KY.

We are encouraging the public to come out and see what we do and, if they want, the public can even get on the air while they are here. While a Amateur license is required to communicate on these frequencies, we will be able to allow non hams to get on the air since we will be here to act as what is called a control operator. The website for our organization is - Tim Frey/Roger Shepard, Breeding Fire Department
