Campbellsville U softball receives bid to NCCAA Tournament

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Campbellsville secured a No. 6 seed in the eight-team 2012 NCCAA Softball National Championship and will begin play Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Botetourt Sports Complex in Troutville, VA.



"We are excited and thankful for another opportunity to play," said CU Coach Shannon Wathen.

The Lady Tigers (38-22) will have to take on last year's champion in the first game - North Greenville University, Tigerville, SC. The Lady Crusaders finished 29-12 and gained their spot in the tournament by winning the NCCAA South Region for the second straight year.

First pitch is set for 2:30pmET.

The team will travel on Tuesday and on Wednesday the Lady Tigers will participate in a National Christian College Athletic Association-sponsored Community Service Project and attend a banquet.

Other teams making the field include: top-seed California Baptist University, No. 2 Cedarville University (Ohio), No. 4 Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, TN), No. 5 Judson University (IL), Emmanuel College and Covenant College (Ga.).
