S.L. Williams, Jr, Casey Co., KY (1923-2012)

He was a native of Adair County, KY, a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church, served our country in the Korean War, a farmer, and retired from Columbia Gulf Transmission Co. He loved his family, hunting, fishing, car racing, and 'cutting up' with so many. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

S.L. Williams, Jr., age 83, of Casey County, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012, at Casey County Hospital, Liberty, KY.

Funeral mass will be at 11amET/10amCT, Monday, January 16, 2012, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 5075 S KY 551, Clementsville, KYm with Rev. Patrick Dolan officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery with military funeral honors by the Casey County Funeral Squad. Visitation will be from 4pm-8pmET/3pm-7pmCT, Sunday, January 15, 2012, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with prayer services at 6pmET.



Chris King, Bobby Williams, Michael King, Larry Long, Clay Ellison, and Brandon Gould will serve as pallbearers. Sami Williams, Beth Long, Sarah Luttrell, and Kelli Gould will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Born Saturday, July 28, 1928, in Adair County, KY. He was a son of the late Shelby and Virgie Holt Williams. He died Friday, January 13, 2012, in Liberty, Casey Co., KY, at the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 16 days.

He was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church, served our country in the Korean War, a farmer, and retired from Columbia Gulf Transmission Co. He loved his family, hunting, fishing, car racing, and 'cutting up' with so many. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Montgomery Williams of Liberty, KY, and the following:
  • Daughters: Cynthia Luttrell of Hustonville, KY; Bonnie (Kevin) King of Liberty, KY; and Amy (Johnnie) Warner of Liberty, KY

  • A son: Kim (Carol) Williams of Liberty, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Sarah Luttrell, Chris and Michael King, Sami and Bobby Williams, Kelli Warner Gould, and Beth Ellison Long

  • Eight great grandchildren

  • Two sisters: Marjorie Tucker of Casey Creek, KY; and Peggy Harrison of Knifley, KY

  • And son-in-law: Clay Ellison of Middleburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carolyn "Shorty" Ellison; and son-in-law, Steve Luttrell.

Memorial contributions are recommended to the Casey County Relay for Life, c/o Karen Atwood, PO Box 10, Liberty, KY 42539.
