CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY -The name Stan Warrenhuffman has been a staple in the Campbellsville University Fighting Tiger football record books since his freshman season in 2008. Now, the 6-foot-4 wide receiver from Cincinnati, Ohio, is among the Top 10 names in the NAIA as a finalist for the NAIA Player of the Year Award. The honor of the NAIA's top player for 2011 will be announced Friday, December 16 at the Football Championship Banquet in Rome, GA.

Warrenhuffman represents the Mid-South Conference on the NAIA Player of the Year ballot, which is currently being voted on by a national awards selection committee, November, 23 to December 2, 2011. He was selected as the MSC representative after being named the MSC East Division Offensive Player of the Year in mid-November.

"Stan would be an excellent choice for National Player of the Year. It would be hard to find a game where he hasn't been the best player on the field over the last few seasons ... He would be an excellent representative of this award on and off the field. I know there are some excellent candidates out there, but there is no doubt in my mind that Stan stands above them all," said Perry Thomas, CU head coach. "

Off the field, Warrenhuffman is an English major on track to graduate in May. He has been active with the Tigers' football program with outreach in the Campbellsville and Taylor County communities, reading to children in local schools and helping to host end of the year field day events among other projects.

On the field in 2011, Warrenhuffman collected 993 yards on 51 catches and nine touchdowns while helping to lead his team to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Victory Bowl championship and a 7-5 record. Through the first nine weeks of the season, Warrenhuffman averaged 98.2 yards per game and 20.6 yards per reception, while scoring nine TDs. He averaged more than 20 yards per catch seven games this season. He had multiple receptions of more than 40 yards, including a career-long, 73-yard touchdown catch at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, the NCAA Division III national champions in 2009 and 2010.

His touches declined in the final three weeks of the 2011 season due to a hamstring injury, which kept him to a total of 99 yards and eight catches over three games. With the injuries, he finished just shy of breaking four CU records this season, in a year which he claimed two career records and one single-game record.

Playing in 37 career games, Warrenhuffman saw the Tigers turn around a program that was 0-10 in 2007 to post three consecutive seven-win seasons in 2009, 2010 and 2011 for the first time since the early 1990s. He set the Tigers' career records for most receiving yards (2,390), most touchdown receptions (19), most receiving yards per game (64.6) and most catches per game (4.05). He finished four catches shy of breaking the Tigers' all-time receptions record.

After setting the single-season record for most receptions in 2010 with 56 catches, Warrenhuffman finished 16 yards short of CU's single-season receiving yards mark and two TDs from the season touchdown receptions mark. The wide out played only the first three games of the 2009 season due to injury.

Also during the 2011 season, he set the single-game record for most touchdown catches (3) and finished one yard short of the most yards in a game, collecting 171 yards on six catches at Faulkner University on October 22, 2011. He tied the single-game receptions record in 2010 with 10 catches against Cumberland University.

According to the NAIA national office, the NAIA Player of the Year ballot is made up of one representative from each conference and each independent institution with a .500 record or better. The award is voted on by a selection committee, which evaluates the nominees' statistics, contributions to the team's success as well as success off the field and in the classroom.

Prior to the announcement of NAIA Player of the Year, the American Football Coaches Association and the NAIA will announce the 2011 All-America Team on Thursday, December 15, 2011.
