Johnie Parson, Adair County, KY (1939-2011)

He was a member of a highly regarded South Adair County family. He was retired after a career as a truck driver for Houchens Industries. He was a member of the Columbia Church of Christ Southside. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was an Adjutant and Treasurer for Disable American Veterans Chapter 72. He will be accorded military honors by Columbia VFW Post 6097

Johnie Parson, 72, of Columbia, KY died Friday, November 25, 2011 at his home after an illness.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 28, 2011 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Hugh Gannon and Dan Jones officiating. Burial will be inLoy Cemetery, 1740 Loy Cemetery Road, Columbia, KY, with full Military Honors presented by Columbia, KY VFW Post 6097 Visitation will be after 3pmCT, Sunday, November 27, 2011, at the funeral home.



Casket Bearers: Tim Parson, Mike Parson, Jeff Parson, Lynn Franklin, Randy Griffin and Ricky Collins.

Johnie Parson, Adair County, KY (1939-2011)

He was born Monday, June 5, 1939 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Louis and Annie Moore Parson. He died Friday, November 25, 2011, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 72 years, 5 months, and 20 days.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Hugh "Pete" and Dillion Moore and Ralph Parson.

He was a retired truck driver for Houchens Industries, a member of Columbia Church of Christ Southside. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was an Adjutant and Treasurer for Disabled American Veterans Chapter 72, .

He is survived by his wife, Dolores Loy Parson of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • One son: Brett Shepherd of Columbia, KY

  • One brother: Billy (Patsy) Parson of Columbia, KY

  • Three grandchildren: April (Shannon) Greer of Jamestown, KY; Stacey Shepherd (Joey Page) and Brenton Shepherd of Columbia, KY

  • Five great grandchildren; Samantha, Katelynn, Trenton, Alyssa and Hayden
