Unified effort expands Old Fashioned Christmas A TRADITION CONTINUES: Cleanup of the Historic Adair County Courthouse has come a long way in the past week. There's still much to be done, but Adair Heritage Association President Ellen Zornes is confident that the building will be ready for "Hanging of the Green" next week in time for the warm Christmas event 8am-3pmCT on Saturday, December 3, 2011. Click on headline for full story, list of petition signers, and photo(s) Charles Grimsley is now taking orders for booths for 8am-3pmCT event at the Adair County Courthouse on December 3, 2011, continuing a tradition of Christmas in Columbia as a Downtown event. Fifteen of the sixteen booths open to vendors are still open. Call Charles Grimsley at 270-384-5658 to rent a space. By Ellen Zornes Due to so much interest in the courthouse, we'll have it open and decorated in period style for an Old Fashioned Christmas by 8:00amCT Saturday, December 3. We'll begin wrapping gifts and selling courthouse wares at that time also. And, if you are interested in having a booth space at the Courthouse on Saturday, contact Charles Grimsley at Grimsley Jeweler, 270-384-5658. Charles saw a need for maintaining the tradition in Downtown Columbia. He polled downtown Merchants, got an consensus that the Christmas in Columbia actually helped, and then got the endorsements of County Judge Executive Ann Melton and Mayor Mark D. Harris, and permission from the Ann Melton to allow the Adair Heritage Association to rent vendor space for the day. To rent a space, contact Charles Grimsley at Grimsley Jewelry, 270-384-5658.
