2011 Awards Banquet: Adair Co., KY has great 4-H program

A great family program involving students/parents

By Marsha Walker
Personal commentary

Adair County has a great 4-H program! I was so proud of the students who received awards for their 4-H projects at the banquet last night, Thursday, October 13, 2011.

I was impressed by the great parent/family support that was shown. Parents are a child's first and best teacher. I was also sad for those students who were unable to attend and receive their awards. Adult volunteers were in abundance.

A new event was the selling of country hams cured by the 4-Hers. Several dads and friends were "stung" by the prices, which ranged from $100 to $200+. The proceeds went to an excellent cause, so no one was unhappy.Tony Rose and his staff are to be commended for their success in involving so many students and adults in the 4-H program. -MARSHA WALKER
