Injury collision in Casey Co., KY blamed on rainslick road

CASEY COUNTY, KY. - Trooper Mike Woodrum is investigating a collision that occurred at 12:00pmET, Thursday, October 13, 2011, 13 miles SE of Liberty at the intersection of KY 837 and Chestnut Level Road.



Kevin Murphy, age 42 of Liberty, KY, was traveling West on Chestnut Level Road in a 1981 Ford Truck when he failed to stop at the intersection due to rain slick road conditions and struck a 2005 Mazda passenger car being operated by Adam Shelley, age 25 of Kings Mountain, KY. Shelley was traveling South on KY 837.

Murphy was not wearing a seatbelt and not injured. Shelley and a passenger in his vehicle, Rebecca Kewman, age 21 of Kings Mountain were both wearing a seatbelt and transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY

Trooper Woodrum was assisted at the scene by Casey County EMS and Southeast Casey County Fire Department.
