SAINT LEO, FL- The Lindsey Wilson College women/s soccer team won the battle of unbeaten teams on Tuesday night as the Blue Raiders beat host Saint Leo University 2-1 at University Field.

The NAIA's top-ranked Blue Raiders needed a pair of late goals to extend their winning streak to 10 matches and remain unbeaten in 2011. With the win, Lindsey Wilson improves to 10-0-1 this season.

NCAA Division II's No. 5-ranked Saint Leo falls to 11-1-1 on the season with the loss.

Following a scoreless first half, the host Lions grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute on Dari Alcantara's unassisted goal. Alcantara blasted a shot from the right flank past Lindsey Wilson senior goalkeeper Jordan Morrison for her ninth score of the season.

The Lions, who out-shot the Blue Raiders 16-6 for the match, held the lead until the 70th minute when Lindsey Wilson junior Mia Persson scored from 15 yards out to tie the match at 1-1.

Persson weaved through traffic reaching the penalty area where she toe-poked a shot past Saint Leo goalkeeper Laura Carstens. The goal is Persson's team-leading seventh of the season.

A little more than eight minutes later senior Ida Gregersen scored her second game-winner of the season.

Gregersen drove the ball to the lower far post from inside the penalty box to give the Blue Raiders the 2-1 lead and eventually the win. The goal, assisted by Persson, was Gregersen's fifth of the season.

Morrison picked up the win allowing just one goal while collecting four saves. Carstens ended allowing two goals and recording one save. -CHRIS WELLS.
